Clothing
The standard of dress in Toronto varies from casual to formal, depending on the occasion. Casual clothing is generally acceptable in most restaurants and bars. Of course, there are some fine establishments where jackets and ties are needed. We recommend lightweight clothing for summer along with sunglasses and sunscreen. In winter, it is great weather with beautiful snow in Toronto. However, the temperature is almost always below 0° and so you will need a winter coat, winter boots (insulated and water-proof), a hat, a scarf, gloves and heavy sweaters. Bringing an umbrella is recommended as it does rain from time to time in each season.
I am here in GEOS to improve my English skills and also enjoy multi cultural city life and learn about them in Toronto. Here in GEOS with wonderful teachers and classmates, my English improved better than my expectation. In class, I did not only learn English but also I learnt a lot of details about different cultures. I realized that all the cultures in the world have some similar customs. Everyday at the lunch time I learnt new meal from different countries. In GEOS, in the class, teachers do not use only our textbooks directly, they create different teaching techniques in order to take our attention to the important points. In GEOS, you do not have to discover anything by yourself because you are in a compact school. From first day, the staff make you feel comfortable and they are very trustful. You know that if you have any kind of problem or need to ask something, they are ready any with honesty. In brief, I have been here for 6 months and I am going back to Turkey this week. I will carry to Turkey all my Toronto experiences and honestly I will carry this wonderful GEOS family with staff, teachers and classmates!
