 Internship Program

 

GEOS Toronto helps international students and professionals to gain an educational work experience in a North American work environment. These students and professionals will develop and apply their expertise with the goal of improving their employment opportunities internationally.

International employers are seeking professionals with North American work experience who understand North American business culture, and who have the confidence and skills to pursue trans-national business opportunities.

GEOS Toronto is presently working with many partners, guaranteeing a variety of unpaid internship positions in a large variety of industries such as IT, Design, Marketing, Trade, Administration, Tourism, and Hospitality to qualified candidates.

GEOS Toronto will: 

  • Provide at least 3 months of English courses.
  • Forward candidate info to our partners and potential companies that have requested interns with similar profiles.
  • Mediate communication between the intern and the company to ensure an ideal placement.
  • Ensure all candidates have valid visas, insurance, and clearly understand the internship position and agreement.
  • Arrange lodging and provide support to ensure a trouble free placement.
  • Maintain communication with candidates and the company to ensure a successful placement.
  • Provide a great learning and cultural experience.


The process to enroll in the internship program is:

  • Inquiries from candidates: Agents and various associates recruit potential candidates
  • Applicant reviews: Analyze the candidate's application and determine if all prerequisites are met. Intermediate or higher English or French level. Appropriate work experience and education. Professional appearance.
  • Telephone Interview: The first interview to ensure the candidate's character and ensure their fluency in English or French.
  • Placement: Forward candidate information to potential companies that have requested interns with similar profiles.
  • Coordination: Mediate communication between the intern and the company to ensure an ideal placement.
  • Visas/insurance/agreements: Ensure all candidates have valid visas, insurance and clearly understand the internship position and agreement.
  • Communication: Maintain communication with all candidates and the intern company to ensure a successful course.
  • Length of the Internship: The applicant needs to register for at least 3 months in the Intensive English Course. The co-op or internship employment cannot be more than 50% of the total program of study as per Citizenship & Immigration Canada's guidelines.
  • General prices: Placement fee for the internship $1200 + School fees

Study English and Experience a Canadian Work Environment

The GEOS Study & Work Program gives students the opportunity to gain work experience and improve their language skills.

STEP 1:

Learn or improve English language skills at GEOS Language Academy Toronto for a minimum of 12 weeks in the Super Intensive or Intensive Program, in order to meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • A TOEIC score of 650 or a TOEFL iBT score of 70
  • Completion of GEOS Canada's Level 4 (High-Intermediate) Program

Note: Please note that students interested in this program must have a valid Canadian Study and Work Permit (co-op visa).

 

STEP 2:

After completion of the Super-Intensive or Intensive English Program at GEOS Language Academy, students may be introduced to a GEOS partner agency. Either the GEOS school or these agencies follow up and provide the student with relevant job placement services and training before the work program begins. Feedback and follow-up services are provided during the Work Program period.

*Enrolment at GEOS Language Academy does not guarantee sucessful entry into the work program.

GEOS Study & Work Program Job Placement Services Include:

  • Host Company Search
  • Resume Creation, Review and Revision
  • Interview Coaching and Preparation
  • Interview Set-up
  • Job Placement Documentation
  • Post Job Placement Service (follow up and report)
  • Certificate Upon Successful Completion of the Program

 

Study & Work Program Support fee: $1,200 CAD (full) / $550 CAD (self)

  • Job Placement (only if full-placement chosen)
  • Visa Application Support (Study & Work permits)
  • SIN Card Application (Social Insurance Number)
